Senator Buruji Kashamu Says People Will Die Before He Get Extradited
Something is about to go down...one way or the other. The latest ruling of a United States court which ruled that Senator Buruji Kashamu must face drug charges has prompted the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) to push for the arrest of the federal lawmaker, saying it has been “emboldened and strengthened” by the ruling.
Meanwhile Kashamu, on Saturday, said that he believes that the President Buhari-led Government would not oblige the request by the US Government for his extradition.
Kashamu, who described as illegal the move by the US to extradite him to face alleged drug charges, said: “There is no extradition that can be brought against me again. The only thing they can do is to watch and catch me on the road; take me to the airport or Cotonou or throw me inside a vessel and take me through the Atlantic Ocean. But I am not going to let that happen.
“I don’t go to the beach, and now, I will go and hire OPC, may be like 40. I will load them (in my vehicle), because the day we meet, one has to kill one. That is for sure! One has to kill one because I am not ready to go anywhere. Before that happens, maybe about three, four or five people will die. But I do not believe that this government can entertain this kind of rubbish. I do believe that this government has integrity and they (officials) are credible; they believe in the rule of law, because if they want to do it, they could have done it. Obasanjo has been pushing them, using one Sandra, a former ambassador of the United States; he’s the one pushing everybody, meeting all these judges, but what have I done?”
In a related development, Kashamu in a statement titled, ‘US court ruling: I have no case to answer’, dated January 28, 2017, said that he was not the offender wanted in the US, but his younger brother, Adewale Kashamu, who is now late. He stated, “My brother was living in Chicago, I sent him to school. He’s very well educated. He was the one having girlfriends there; he was the one who caused a lot of problems. Even when I was in London, they still traced almost $2m into his bank account while I was in prison; they still continued doing the transaction. If you go through the last British judgment, it is there. The Interpol people were the ones who went to the bank and got all the information, and carried all the documents, they came to London and gave evidence in court.
“The Beninoise Interpol produced evidence showing that the Benin telephone number, through which the US offenders communicated with their West African collaborators, belonged to my brother, Adewale Kashamu, and not me, Buruji Kashamu. When they were looking for him, the NDLEA people went to his house here; they searched his house.
They went to his car company, they sealed his car company and they took over 30 vehicles from there. He ran away.He was using the office of Remi Adiukwu Oluwalogbon on Allen Avenue. For three good years, he did not pay Remi Adiukwu. The NDLEA people sealed the car company and they confirmed this in one of their letters".
"I Did Not Lose $10m to Girlfriend" - Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa
The Delta State Government on Sunday distanced the state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, from an online report linking him with a report that a serving governor from the South-South geopolitical zone was defrauded of $10m by a girlfriend.
The money, it was reported, was part of the bailout given to the state by the Federal Government to offset workers’ salaries but most of the workers are still being owed.
The state Commissioner for Information, Patrick Ukah, in a statement on behalf of the government, stressed that there was no iota of truth in the story that it was Okowa who lost $10m to a girlfriend.
A report on Saturday quoted sources in the EFCC that a serving governor in the South-South zone allegedly diverted $10m from the bailout for his state.
The report, which did not actually specify the name of the governor, stated that the governor was already under probe by the EFCC after $10m was allegedly hijacked by his America-based mistress.
However, a follow-up report by an online medium accused Okowa as the one defrauded of the sum.
Ukah stated, “We are appalled by the attempt to link Governor Okowa with the story by online media. We find it ridiculously tasteless and mischievous.
This can only be part of the unrelenting campaign of calumny and the ceaseless peddling of pernicious propaganda against the person and the office of the Delta State Governor.
“For the record, the state government has several times in the past given account of how the bailout the state got from the Federal Government was used. We will not repeat ourselves here.
“Governor Okowa is a responsible family man and a well respected public figure.
“His preoccupation has been and continues to be how to deliver on his promised S.M.A.R.T agenda to the good people of Delta State since he came to office. And he has received applause and commendations from far and near for being so focused and unrelenting in the pursuit of his vision for the state".
The statement warned that if “those who are bent on carrying out their devious and dubious campaign of calumny against the governor refuse to stop this infamous trade of theirs, we reserve the right to take any action deemed appropriate to seek redress".
So, who's the Niger Delta governor who was duped by a girlfriend of his people's money?

Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg Criticizes US New President, Donald Trump
"My great grandparents came from Germany, Austria and Poland. Priscilla's parents were refugees from China and Vietnam. The United States is a nation of immigrants, and we should be proud of that. Like many of you, I'm concerned about the impact of the recent executive orders signed by President Trump" Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post, which cited his family's immigrant background and his volunteer work with undocumented schoolchildren.
"We should also keep our doors open to refugees and those who need help. That's who we are. Had we turned away refugees a few decades ago, Priscilla's family wouldn't be here today" Zuckerberg wrote. On Friday, Trump signed an executive order calling for "extreme vetting" of refugees, following through on promises on the campaign trail.

#15m Been Found With House of Assembly Paymaster (Photos)
The first female Speaker of Ondo state House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele was last night sacked by 20 out of the 26 members of the assembly over alleged N15m fraud.
According to lawmakers, the suspension of the three principal officers was sequel to the withdrawal of the sum of N15 million by the embattled speaker, Jumoke Akindele.
The Assembly Paymaster was caught by some lawmakers with the cash at the premises of the House of Assembly.
During questioning, he reportedly said he was acting on the instruction of the suspended speaker to bring the money to her residence.

Buhari is alive - Presidency debunks death rumour
The presidency has denied a report by some media that President Muhammadu Buhari, who is holidaying abroad is dead.
The report claimed that Buhari visited the UK for medical check over an unknown disease adding that details of his death were still sketchy.
But in his reaction, Garba Shehu, the Buhari’s spokesperson, said: “He is alive and well! President Buhari is not magical. He cannot be holidaying in the UK and be in Germany, dead or alive at the same time.
“He is unlike a past President who was at Ota, with Chief Obasanjo and attending the Trump inauguration in D.C, being in two places at the same time!”
In his reaction, Femi Adeshina, one of President Buhari's aides on media, also reportedly said he would only "say best wishes to all who wish Buhari well while for those who carry evil rumours, may they receive grace to repent."
Garba Shehu's reaction is also believed to be a mockery of the fake report on Friday, January 20 that the former president Goodluck Jonathan was invited by the US for the inauguration of Donald Trump when, indeed, he was in Ogun state with his predecessor, Olusegun Obasanjo.
Nigerians have since yesterday condemned Deji Adeyanju, a spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for breaking the fake report on social media and making fun of the whole nation.
A check on the Metro-UK website that broke the report about the "death of President Buhari" shows several other stories in such a manner.
A simple check of Alexa ranking of this 'source' shows that the site is number 702,853 in the world, therefore, it cannot be considered as credible.

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi Set to go on a Medical Checkup Vacation
He was quoted as saying, "Last Sunday, the president stood for one hour; and if he is not fit he would have collapsed. I do not think we should discuss president’s medical history. What are we worrying about?
"I will soon go for 10 days’ vacation, in which I will go for medical check-up [too]. The rumour about his death or he is alive, is all nonsense."

Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari Re-choose Ibrahim Magu’s as The Chairman of EFCC
President Muhammadu Buhari has once again sent the name of Ibrahim Magu, the current acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), as his candidate for the substantive chairmanship of the anti-corruption agency.
A highly placed source at the Presidency told SR that Mr. Magu’s name had been forwarded to the office of Senate President Bukola Saraki.
“I can confirm that President Buhari submitted Ibrahim Magu’s name just before he began a 10-day vacation in Britain on Thursday,” the presidential source revealed.
In a controversial move, the Senate had two months ago rejected Mr. Magu as the substantive leader of the EFCC. In refusing to confirm Mr. Magu, some senators claimed that they were relying on a security report prepared by the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura, which accused Magu of acting in a high-handed manner as well as being entangled in a conflict of interest with an allegedly corrupt Nigerian businessman.
Following the Senate’s rejection of Mr. Magu, President Buhari set up a panel led by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to probe the allegations against him.
Looks like Magu was found innocent of the "spurious" allegations.

Obasanjo Says Nigeria Ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan Has Become Wise Since He Leaves Office
Former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday visited Ibogun, Ogun State, the ancestral village benefactor, Baba Olusegun Obasanjo.
The rare meeting between the duo who were bitterly divided in the run-up to the 2015 election saw Obasanjo tell his host how wise he (Jonathan) had become since leaving office.
“When leaders come, they have little or no experience. When they have to go is when they have really amassed a lot of experience, where they have wisdom, their experience is in high demand.
“Those like you and me who have the grace of God to bow out gracefully, if there is now what I call constitutional office, we have residual responsibilities for Nigeria," Obasanjo said.
With Jonathan on the trip, which observers branded as fence mending yesterday, were former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Kabir Turaki; a former Minister of National Planning, Prof. Suleiman Abubakar; King A.J. Turner; and a former Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engr. Jide Adeniji.
They flew into the village in a chartered helicopter at about 11.30am.
The visit lasted about four hours of which Obasanjo and Jonathan alone spoke behind closed doors for 40 minutes.
No member of Jonathan’s entourage or Obasanjo’s associates was allowed into the inner room where the secret talks took place.
Obasanjo received his visitor in company with ex-Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who was ousted as National Secretary of the then ruling PDP by Jonathan and his loyalists.
Obasanjo took Jonathan round the village for a door-to-door greeting of the elders and the residents.
Obasanjo, welcoming Jonthan, said: “The first point I want to make is to thank you very sincerely and most sincerely for taking it upon yourself to pay us a visit at this point in time and at this location.
Secondly, since you left office, you hardly have time to sit down and relax like you have been able to do today and I hope, I sincerely hope and pray for more such relaxed situation where we can reminisce on situations of the past that we have been through in this country and we can also look at what the future portends".
An inside source described the meeting as "a reunion of Baba and his son".
