Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, Says Okonjo-Iweala, Sanusi Begged Them To Save But They Refused
Former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi says Nigerian governors under the Goodluck Jonathan led administration refused to save for a rainy day, despite obvious signs of coming recession.
Peter Obi said former minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Muhammad Sanusi II, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), begged the federal government to build its savings but the governors kicked against the idea.
The governors were just being selfish because they felt the federal government then was using some of the joint revenue in the excess crude account without their input.
Speaking on CNBC Africa, Peter Obi said he was not against Muhammadu Buhari government’s plan to borrow, but he was against borrowing without a plan.
