12 students lost their lives while 30 others were injured after a trailer rammed into them in Mallam Sidi town, Gombe state yesterday December 20th. The students were in a procession marking the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, when the driver of the van who was on high speed, lost control and hit them.
A mob killed the driver and set the vehicle ablaze. About thirty other children were injured and were taken to the cottage hospital in Mallam Sidi. The remains of the dead students have been buried according to Islamic rites.
