Little Girl With Severe Facial Disfigurement Admitted at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Needs Help (Photos)



Khadija Shu'aibu, who is suffering from what is suspected to be Noma disease needs help. Noma (cancrum oris) is an acute and ravaging gangrenous infection affecting the face. The victims are mainly children caught in a vicious circle of extreme poverty and chronic malnutrition.

It usually begins with ulcers in the mouth. If the condition is detected in the early stage, progression can be prevented with use of mild antibiotics and immediate nutritional rehabilitation. If left untreated, the ulcer progress to Noma at an alarming pace.

"This is Khadija Shu'aibu who is currently admitted at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano State.

The patient was admitted about 2 weeks ago on account of severe facial disfigument secondary to cancurum oris. They are from a very low socio economic status as eating is a serious problem. They have exhusted all they have.

They currently owe about 45000 to the hospital.

They currently want discharge but can't get it because of the money they have to pay. Moreover patient is not stable and convulsing. She is severely malnurished.

Khadija is in need of our financial support let us donate no matter how little its and put smile to her face.
