The National Head of the Hawks Lieutenant General Mthandazo Ntlemeza said the Hawks team at the OR Tambo International Airport recovered drugs worth R1 million on Monday, August 8.
According to the media statement from Directorate of Priority Crimes Investigation (HAWKS) South African Police Service, the team received information regarding unattended luggage which arrived on a flight from Nigeria SA061on Mondaymorning.
Upon searching the luggage, members recovered ephedrine weighing 20kg worth an estimated R1 million. No arrests have been made as yet, investigation continue.
Lieutenant General Ntlemeza warned that the Hawks will not rest nor hesitate to arrest anyone who is found to be dealing, manufacturing and or distribution of drugs.
"We were in Kempton Park as part of operation Expose and the community is responding by providing information. The future of this country depends on the collaboration between ourselves and our communities. To the drug peddlers, your days are numbered, we are coming, you can run but you cannot hide. We mean business and no criminal will stop us from cleaning our country from this heartless syndicates," he concluded.
